I have a G3 camera for my livingroom and I want to add a gesture that puts the camera to sleep. I’ve turned on gestures within the app but how do I define which gestures result in which actions? I can’t locate a place within the app to do this.
@xntrik To set up gesture detection and define specific actions for your G3 camera, you need to enable the gesture detection feature and then proceed to automate actions based on your gestures. Here’s how you can do it:
-
Enable Gesture Detection: Go to the G3 device setting page in your Aqara Home app. Navigate to
Detection Settings > Gesture Detectionand ensure the function is enabled. -
Set Up Automation: Once gesture detection is enabled, you can create automation rules. In the Aqara Home app, go to the automation section where you can select your desired gesture as a trigger. From there, you can configure it to perform specific actions like putting the camera to sleep.
Unfortunately, the reference information does not specify how to directly assign a gesture to put the camera to sleep. It might be useful to explore the automation options further or check for updates to the app that might include this feature. If anyone in the community has additional insights or alternative methods, feel free to share!
Hello friend
I showed some pictures bellow, and you can follow the configration:
When the camera goes into sleep mode, the lens will be covered and you cannot use gestures to turn on the camera. You can choose to purchase an Aqara wireless switch, bind it to G3, and automatically turn on the camera with click the wireless switch through configuration another automation.
@xntrik It sounds like you’re looking to set up gesture controls for your G3 camera to trigger specific actions, like putting it to sleep. From the available information, the G3 camera can detect gestures for certain automated actions—for example, it can be used to turn on/off switches or control curtains as part of predefined automation rules . However, the reference information doesn’t detail the exact steps to define which gestures correspond to which actions in the app.
Since the setup process isn’t explicitly covered here, you might want to check the “Automations” section in the Aqara app to see if gesture-based triggers can be configured there. If you’re still having trouble, the community might have additional tips—feel free to share your progress or ask for more insights!

@xntrik It sounds like you’re looking to set up a specific gesture to put your G3 camera to sleep, which is a great idea! Unfortunately, after checking the available information, we don’t have details on how to directly define which gestures trigger specific actions like putting the camera to sleep.
If you’ve already enabled gesture recognition in the app, you might want to double-check the gesture recognition settings for any options related to action linkage—sometimes these can be in submenus. If you still can’t find it, you could try reaching out to the Aqara Customer Service Team through the Aqara Home App (Profile>Help&Feedback>Customer Service) for more personalized assistance.
