How do you Change Wi Fi

Got a new router how do you change the wi fi settings to new one. Thanks

I came across this same issue just yesterday.

First, I’d suggest changing the new router’s Wifi ssid name to the old wifi name. This will ensure all current devices connect without any internvention.

If for some reason (like in my case) you have to change the Wifi name, you have two options:

  1. For newer hubs, like the M100, they have an option to “Change Wifi”, they need to have temporary internet to be able to set this option up. Temporary means setting up another access point with the old wifi name, or better yet have your phone’s hotspot the same old wifi name for the hub to connect to the internet.

  2. For older hubs, you have to reset the hub, usually by holding down the only button for 10s, delete the device from Aqara app, and readding it. During the setup, the hub remembers all child devices, however if you’re using Homekit like I do, you will have to reconfigure all your automations/room assignment.

Hope this helps.

If possible, just set the login and password as they were and everything will work by itself. It is clear that everything will work. which is related to the gateways that work in the system. Automation will also work.

Thanks I’ll give it a try

Thanks

I love when people suggest that you just change it to the old one, even though the Wifi settings were changed. That’s not a solution, that’s just being lazy, because you know there is no good solution.

I had to change the Wifi SSID and we have a bunch of G2H cameras. The process is super tedious, because you basically have to set up everything again.

  1. Remove camera from Aqara app
  2. Remove camera from Homekit - yes, this will also delete all recordings of it in iCloud!
  3. Now add to Aqara app again
  4. During adding it will ask you to add to Homekit as well

I was too quick and didn’t remove them from Homekit after re-adding to Aqara. Now I have to do it all again, because it doesn’t seem like you can add a camera to Homekit directly. It only ever works when it is during setup in Aqara.

Or is there some way to trigger the “Add to Home” action in the Aqara app?

I really wish there was a way to just change the Wifi and re-scan the QR code on the camera, but no, they had to make it difficult…

Hi, there have never been easy solutions in network settings. If you change the network, expect to reconfigure the entire system. Also think about security for WiFi cameras. By the way, in the M2 and M3 gateways you can change everything related to WiFi and the password from the settings.

Unfortunately we are not using a gateway, but I will look at the M2 or M3. We just upgraded our Network to use a Ubiquiti gateway, so we might just upgrade to proper cameras by Ubiquiti instead.
