I created two scenes: one for when the alarm is armed (Away mode) and another for when it’s disarmed (Home mode). The Away mode scene puts the thermostat into EnergySavings mode, which adjusts the temperature settings to reduce heating and cooling while I’m away. The Home mode scene switches it back to normal settings when I return. I even set up a plugin to handle the thermostat’s behavior if any doors or windows are left open, ensuring that energy isn’t wasted unnecessarily.
I’ve been using this setup for a few months now, and the results are impressive! My heating and electric bills have dropped by about $60 each month. It’s a simple solution that has made a big difference, and I’m excited to continue exploring other ways to optimize my home’s energy efficiency.
