Okay so I had this random nightmare situation last night—my Aqara sensor just went poof, offline outta nowhere. I didn’t change anything, it just vanished from the app. Super annoying when all your automations hinge on one device!
After about 2 hours of trial and error (and a strong cup of coffee), I realized the issue had nothing to do with Matter itself, but with my Wi-Fi. My router pushed a firmware update during the night, and for some reason, the 2.4GHz band stopped broadcasting properly while the 5GHz was fine. Since most Aqara stuff relies on 2.4GHz… boom, disconnection.
Quick fix for me:
- Logged into my router, made sure 2.4GHz was actually ON (it wasn’t).
- Split the SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz just to be safe.
- Rebooted the sensor manually, gave it a few minutes, and hey—back online like nothing happened.
Moral of the story: don’t always blame Matter first. Sometimes good ol’ Wi-Fi is the real drama queen.
