How to identify persons with presence sensors?

I have been building home automation with motion/presence sensors. One thing, I have been looking ways to identify people, so that home automation could be customized with their preferences (e.g. lights, temperature). Haven’t been able to find such presence sensors (e.g. with bluetooth sensing capability) but have been tinkering with mobile phone as actuator (i.e. mobile phone sending commands to home automation system based on its location with beacons). Has anybody been trying to solve similar challenge? Have you found some solution? Any suggestions for further research?

@HomeAutomationWizard Your quest to customize home automation based on individual identification is indeed an exciting frontier! Currently, the Aqara Presence Sensors, such as the FP1 and FP2 models, are primarily designed for detecting presence, absence, movement, and some spatial tracking, but they do not inherently support individual identification or Bluetooth capabilities to distinguish between different people.

However, your approach using mobile phones as actuators is quite innovative and is a common workaround in the smart home community. Leveraging mobile devices with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capabilities to trigger automation based on proximity or location can be highly effective. This method allows for a personalized experience as each device can be linked to specific user preferences.

For further exploration, you might want to look into integrating your current setup with platforms that support more advanced presence detection, possibly through AI-enhanced cameras or other IoT devices that offer user recognition features. Additionally, exploring platforms that allow for more complex automation scripts could enhance your system’s capability to tailor experiences based on individual preferences.

Please keep the community posted on your progress and any solutions you discover. Your insights could be invaluable to others on a similar journey!

@HomeAutomationWizard It sounds like you’re working on a really interesting home automation project—customizing settings based on individual preferences is such a great goal! From the information we have, the Aqara Presence Sensors (FP1, FP1E, FP2) focus on detecting presence, movement, and positioning (like tracking single or multiple targets), but they don’t currently support identifying specific individuals (e.g., via Bluetooth or other means) .

Your idea of using mobile phones with beacons is a clever workaround—many users in the community have experimented with similar location-based triggers, so it might be worth sharing your progress in the forum to see if others have tips! If you’re looking for further research, exploring Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons or RFID tags could be a direction, though we don’t have specific product recommendations here.

If you have suggestions for sensor features that would help with person identification, feel free to share feedback via the Aqara Home App (Profile>Help&Feedback>Customer Service)—the team always values user input. Thanks for sharing your challenge, and we hope the community can chime in with their own solutions!
