How to improve signal for Zigbee - Sensors

Hi,

I installed some smart switches at home and, yesterday, some sensors; there is one switch in the bedroom, but one of the sensors is complaining all the time (no signal). The sensors are brand new.

Thank you,

You can improve Zigbee signal by installing Zigbee devices with neutral connected.

So any battery powered device or “no neutral” device will not extend the signal.

For example: smart switch (with neutral), smart lightbulbs, smart relays, smart plugs and outlets, a LED Strip.

Most people just buy a smart plug and plug it somewhere to boost the signal, but you can choose another device to boost the signal (and upgrade your smart home with)

@cezary806 Oh, that is why that room does not have neutro; the switch is without it, but the lights outside do; they are Zigbee lightbulbs.

Afaik lights should amplify the signal, as long as the power is not cut off from them when they’re off. And as long as they’re Aqara and connected to the same hub (each hub creates its own Zigbee network).

Hmm, the lightbulbs are a different brand. :worried:

You can always add the neutral cable inside the walls to each switch I did that and all my switches have neutral line too

I wouldn’t rule the bulbs in or out just from the brand. Which hub or Zigbee coordinator are the sensor and the bulbs actually paired to, and what are their model names? I use Home Assistant with Aqara devices, but appearing together in one dashboard does not mean devices share a Zigbee network. Home Assistant’s ZHA documentation explains that a device belongs to one Zigbee network and that routers pass messages within that network.

For your next check, I’d confirm that the bulbs are compatible router devices on the sensor’s own Zigbee network and remain powered at the wall. If they belong to a separate bridge, they won’t extend that sensor’s mesh. This doesn’t establish the cause of the disconnections yet. I’d leave any changes to mains wiring, including adding a neutral conductor, to a qualified electrician.
