Hey everyone, I’ve been really into smart home tech lately, and I’m trying to figure out how to integrate my old air conditioner into my smart home setup. I’ve got this 10-year-old AC unit that’s been reliable, but it’s completely manual—no smart features at all. I’d love to be able to control it through my phone or even set up some smart routines, like turning it on when I’m on my way home or adjusting the temperature based on the weather forecast.
I’ve heard that smart plugs can help with basic on/off functionality, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to get more out of it. Maybe something like a smart thermostat or a device that can read the temperature and adjust the AC accordingly? I’ve tried searching for solutions, but I’m not sure what’s compatible with my old system.
Does anyone have experience with retrofitting older appliances? I’m especially interested in hearing about any DIY solutions or affordable gadgets that can make this happen.
