Hello everyone! I’m trying to set up an automation in my kitchen where the lights and fan turn on with motion and then turn off after a certain period of inactivity. It sounds simple, but I’m running into some issues. Let me walk you through my setup and the challenges I’m facing.
I have motion sensors, lights, and a fan all connected to my smart home system. The idea is that when motion is detected, both the lights and fan come on. If there’s no motion for 10 minutes, they should turn off. However, about 50% of the time, the lights and fan don’t turn off as expected. This is frustrating because I want everything to run smoothly without constant intervention.
I’ve tried using different apps and rule builders, but I’m not sure if I’m setting it up correctly. For example, I created a rule where if motion is detected, the lights and fan turn on. Then, if there’s no motion for 10 minutes, they should turn off. But sometimes, even when there’s no motion, the devices stay on. I’ve checked the motion sensors, and they seem to be working fine. Could it be an issue with the automation app, or is there something I’m missing in the setup?
I’ve also considered the possibility of interference from other devices or a weak Wi-Fi signal, but everything else in my smart home works fine. I’m wondering if there’s a better way to structure the automation or if I need a different app altogether. Has anyone else experienced similar issues and found a solution?
I’d love to hear your thoughts and any tips you might have for making this automation more reliable. Maybe there’s a setting I haven’t adjusted or a different approach to the rule that I haven’t thought of yet. Let’s discuss and see if we can figure this out together!
