How to Stop Your Echo Dot from Automatically Waking Up Every Morning

I recently noticed that my Echo Dot was waking up at the same time every morning, saying ‘Good morning’ and asking for my postcode for the weather. At first, I was a bit confused and concerned about why it was doing this. I checked the routines in the Alexa app, but couldn’t find anything that would cause this behavior. After some research and trial and error, I found a solution that worked for me!

First, I went into the Alexa app and checked the ‘Routines’ section. I discovered that there was a routine set up that was triggered at a specific time. However, I didn’t create this routine, and it wasn’t showing up in my list of routines. I decided to delete it, but that didn’t solve the problem.

Next, I looked into the ‘Skills & Games’ section of the Alexa app. I found that the ‘Good Morning’ skill was enabled. I disabled this skill, and the Echo Dot stopped waking up automatically. If you’re experiencing the same issue, I recommend checking your skills and disabling any that might be causing unintended behavior.

If you’re still having trouble, you can try resetting your Echo Dot to factory settings. This will remove all skills and routines, giving you a clean slate to start over. To do this, hold down the action button on the top of your Echo Dot until you hear a tone, then release it. Follow the prompts to set it up again.

I hope this helps someone else who’s experiencing the same issue. It was a bit frustrating at first, but solving it gave me a better understanding of how Alexa routines and skills work. If anyone has other tips or solutions, I’d love to hear them!
