I’ve recently been diving into the world of home automation, and I must say, it’s been an incredible journey! However, like many of you, I’ve encountered some bumps along the way. One particular issue that caught my attention was with my Ikea Tradfri bulbs. They’ve been a staple in my setup, both indoors and outdoors, but I noticed something odd—every sunset, when they should seamlessly turn on, one or two bulbs would come on but dimmed to zero. It was perplexing and slightly frustrating, especially when I wanted a smooth transition as the day ended.
After some research and trial and error, I discovered that creating individual flows for each bulb was the solution. While it wasn’t the most elegant fix, it worked. I set up a flow where, if the outdoor lights were on and the power consumption dropped below 1W, the bulb would turn off and then back on. It was a bit tedious, but it ensured consistency across all my bulbs.
This experience taught me the importance of automation and the value of persistence when troubleshooting. It also highlighted how even the most reliable devices can sometimes act up, and having a backup plan is essential. If you’re facing similar issues, I’d recommend experimenting with flows and automation rules—they can be lifesavers!
On a lighter note, it’s amazing how these small hiccups can lead to bigger discoveries. I’m now more confident in tweaking my setup and exploring new ways to enhance my home automation experience. Here’s to many more successful automations and fewer surprises!
