I came across Cutting Latency and Code Time: Aqara's Success with Google Home APIs | Google Home Developers which seemed very promising as we have a number of pre-matter devices that we can’t add to Aqara directly, however I can’t seem to figure out how to do it.
The only option I see is to create automations with only Google home decices.
Does anyone know if it’s possible, and if so how to add Google Home devices to Aqara fully? Or at least create an automation in Aqara that uses devices from both?

@gergdenton It sounds like you’re looking to integrate Google Home devices with your Aqara setup and create automations that involve both. Based on the reference information, Aqara devices can be connected to Google Home through the Matter protocol or by linking your Aqara account with Google Home. Here’s a brief guide on how you might proceed:
-
Using the Matter Protocol: If your Aqara hub supports the Matter protocol, you can integrate it with Google Home. This allows devices connected to the hub to be exposed to Google Home and other Matter-compatible ecosystems.
-
Linking Aqara Account to Google Home: You can link your Aqara account directly to the Google Home app. This approach might work for devices that are not yet Matter-compatible, allowing some level of control and integration.
To create automations involving both Google Home and Aqara devices, you may need to set up the devices in both ecosystems and create automations that trigger actions across platforms. This can sometimes require using third-party services like IFTTT for more complex automation tasks.
If your devices are pre-Matter and not directly compatible, this approach might require some workarounds or additional hubs that support both ecosystems. Unfortunately, without specific device compatibility details, it’s challenging to provide a precise solution.
Feel free to share more about your specific devices or setups, and the community might have additional insights or suggestions!
