I set up a Hub M100 on a WiFI 2.4Ghz.
Added a Smoke Detector and a Vibration T1 sensor. The Vibration Sensor T1 has been deleted twice in the Aqara app, with the “Home” (M100) and doesn’t seem to be reliable on the motion detection (last detections is not the time I opened the door for instance)
However, the signal appears to be strong / sufficient.
The Vibration Sensor T1 is likely not the right tool for monitoring a door.
It detects shocks or tilts. If the door is opened smoothly, it may not trigger at all. It also cannot tell you if the door is currently open or closed; it only reports the vibration event. The sensor is also capable of detecting tilt, which makes it useful for garage doors or tilted (bottom-hung) windows, for example.
For reliable door monitoring, you should use the Aqara Door and Window Sensor (the magnetic contact version). It is much more reliable for tracking entries and exits.
Keep the Vibration Sensor for detecting glass breakage or tampering, but use a contact sensor for the door status.
Thank you for your quick reply, but your answer is not explaining why the device is being “deleted” for no reason but network issue? Tampering is one of the case I wanted to try.
I chose the Vibration Sensor T1 because the door frame is flush with the wall (deep). As a result, a magnetic door sensor cannot be properly installed or aligned in this configuration.
I misunderstood regarding the deletion. I thought you had deleted it and then added it again. A network error should not result in the deletion of the sensor. You can check for events in the sensor settings log or run a diagnostic under Profile > Help & Feedback > Device diagnostic logs.
For door monitoring, I would recommend the new Multi-State Sensor P100, as it is designed for your application. However, it has not been released yet.
