Hub M3 Home Assistant

How to link the Aqara Hub M3 including all subordinate devices (Zigbee and Matter) with Home Assistant?

@AqaraBot can you shed some light here?

You can use the Matter integration on the HA side of things to do so. There are no subordinate Matter devices to the M3 Hub. M3 acts as a matter bridge, but essentially, you would need to go to each Matter device and link them to HA separately.

Thank you very much for your answer, @george_rovolis . I had hoped that the child devices would automatically come with it, but your answer has confirmed my fears :frowning:

You can add the M3 to HA by scanning its Matter QR code, so that the Zigbee devices under the M3 can be added to HA via the bridge.

Thanks for you reply @Peng. My hope was, as mentioned before, that all child devices can be used automatically in HA after adding the M3 hub via Matter code. However, according to @george_rovolis this does not seem to be the case.

There are still some devices that integrate via HomeKit better than via Matter, so we would suggest adding the hub via HomeKit to HA too. When you reset the hub, it will appear automatically in HA, and you will be able to input the HomeKit code

Can this be done without owning any kind of Apple devices?

It depends what platform / ecosystem was used to add the matter devices to, in the first place. For example, says you’ve got a P2 Motion sensor, if you first added them to Aqara Home, Aqara home can generate a new matter code for Home Assistant. If it was Google Home or Apple Home, you need to go into those and generate a new Matter code from there.
