HUB M3 - supported NON Aqara zigbee devices

Can everyone please list the type/model of non-Aqara devices that are working smoothly with the Aqara M3 hub? I believe this information will be very valuable for forum members and could help others avoid spending money on devices that aren’t compatible.

Important Note:
Currently, the Aqara M3 hub only supports Aqara Zigbee devices for Zigbee connectivity-it does not work with third-party Zigbee devices. However, it does support a wide range of third-party devices that use the Matter protocol, regardless of brand. If you have non-Aqara Matter devices (such as contact sensors, occupancy sensors, light sensors, various switches, plugs, and lights), please share your experiences and specific models that work well with the M3 hub

@jaroslav.S It sounds like you’re on a mission to gather useful insights for the community about non-Aqara devices that work well with the Aqara M3 hub through the Matter protocol. I appreciate your initiative!

To address your note, it’s important to clarify that the Aqara Hub M3 indeed supports Matter-compatible devices. Specifically, it can connect with various third-party devices such as lights, switches, and thermostats that are compatible with the Matter protocol. However, for Zigbee connectivity, the hub currently supports only Aqara Zigbee devices and not third-party Zigbee ones.

I encourage forum members who have experience with connecting non-Aqara Matter devices to the M3 hub to share their experiences and the specific models they’ve found to be reliable. This collaboration could be incredibly helpful for others looking to expand their smart home ecosystem without encountering compatibility issues. Thank you for fostering this valuable discussion!

I use a Zemismart M1 Hub with Matter to connect a Moes Zigbee wall socket with Aqara. I added the Zemismart M1 Hub via Matter to the Aqara app and then the Wall socket is a useable device in Aqara App. But Moes zigbee Wall switches can not be connected to Aqara in this Way. I added the Philips Hue Bridge via Matter to use Philips Hue Zigbee Lights and Philips Hue Zigbee switches.

if you want endless options, I went with Zigbee2MQTT and MatterBridge
both run local and support a huge library of products
thanks to MatterBridge i added all devices to Aqara App and Homekit.
everything runs local and executes super fast!

I love the Aqara app because they have a very strong automation engine
unlike Apple’s homekit where the ui and start up of the app is fast and beautiful

maybe you can consider using sockets that support the Matter protocol, can easily turn a traditional device to a smart device. actually by using this way I just turned my air fan to a smart air fan

Hi, you are right, but I am looking some more “clever” control then switch on/off. If you are controlling the fan, I expect for example to operate speed limit, position, etc.

It is indeed difficult to integrate various third-party devices into the same application at present. Let’s look forward to the subsequent technical releases of Aqara!
