Hub Mesh: A Game-Changer for My Smart Home Setup

I’ve been a long-time user of Hubitat, having started with the C3 back in 2018. Over the years, my setup has grown significantly, and I’ve always been on the lookout for ways to optimize my smart home experience. Recently, I came across Hub Mesh, a feature I initially dismissed as unnecessary, but it turned out to be a true game-changer for me.

I had a C4 hub that I had maxed out, managing everything from my Zigbee devices to my Z-Wave network. However, I started facing issues with my Hampton Bay fan controllers dropping off the network, even after installing Iris plugs to help stabilize the connection. This was frustrating, especially since I rely heavily on these devices for my home automation routines.

During a recent sale, I took the opportunity to purchase a C7 hub. This gave me the perfect excuse to explore Hub Mesh further. I had a C5 hub lying around, so I decided to set up a multi-hub system, dedicating the C4 to handle HTTP tasks, the C5 to manage all my Zigbee devices, and the C7 to take care of my Z-Wave network.

The setup process was surprisingly smooth, and I was pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly Hub Mesh integrated into my existing setup. I was worried there might be delays or connectivity issues, but everything ran like clockwork. My rules and automations continued to function without any hiccups, and I didn’t notice any delays at all.

This experience has been nothing short of impressive. It’s amazing how Hub Mesh allows me to scale my smart home setup without compromising on performance. I’m now able to manage a more extensive network of devices, and the reliability has improved significantly.

I want to give a huge shoutout to the Hubitat team for developing such a fantastic tool. If you’re considering expanding your smart home setup, I highly recommend exploring Hub Mesh. It’s not just an upgrade; it’s a necessity for anyone looking to future-proof their home automation system.

Thanks to everyone involved in making Hub Mesh such a success—@bravenel, @mike.maxwell, @gopher.ny, @bcopeland, and anyone else who contributed to this fantastic feature. You’ve truly outdone yourselves with Hub Mesh!
