Hue Lightbulb and Motion Sensor Automation Setup Experience

I recently set up an automation using my Hue lightbulb and an indoor motion sensor for my hallway, and I wanted to share my experience with the community. The goal was to have the lightbulb turn on a night light scene at sunset and activate when motion is detected, then return to the night light scene after a minute. Initially, everything worked smoothly, and I was thrilled with how seamless the setup was. However, I encountered a challenge when I realized the lightbulb would still turn on at sunset even when I wasn’t home, which wasn’t ideal. After some research, I discovered that setting up a location-based routine could help, but it didn’t fully solve the issue as expected. I decided to explore further and found that adjusting the automation to consider my presence through geofencing provided a more accurate solution. This tweak ensured the lights only activate when I’m home, making the system much more efficient. Overall, this project taught me the importance of thorough testing and the value of community support in troubleshooting. It’s been a rewarding experience, and I’m excited to share these insights to help others with similar setups!
