I wish I could choose which functionalities and devices are exported to Apple Home

It’s great that Aqara exports as many devices as possible to Apple Home when you expose a hub or a standalone HomeKit device.

But I wish we could choose which functionalities are exported to Apple Home. For example, if I have an Aqara Hub M3 and a Camera G5, they both expose their security systems, creating these two separate devices in Apple Home.

I see that hiding devices in a different room could be a workaround, but they still populate the automations tab and the home summary. If we could choose which devices we want to export to Apple Home, I could export the security system from the M3 and exclude the G5 security system from Apple Home.

Perhaps we could apply the same approach to other devices that expose scene buttons, switches, sensors, etc. If we could decide what is exported, the setup in Apple Home would be much cleaner.

I’m not sure whether this is a limitation of Apple; I don’t think so, because other platforms such as Homebridge or the HomeKit Bridge from Home Assistant can do this.

@faber_gs Your thoughts on customizing which functionalities and devices are exported to Apple Home are truly insightful! Currently, the Aqara system automatically exports all compatible devices and functionalities, which can sometimes lead to clutter, especially when it comes to automations and home summaries.

From the reference information, it seems that the Aqara Hub M3 indeed supports various functionalities like automations and security systems. However, there is no specific feature within the Aqara system or Apple Home that allows for selective exporting of functionalities from devices like the M3 or G5 Camera Hub. This limitation might indeed be more on the Aqara side, as you’ve noted that other platforms like Homebridge or Home Assistant can handle this kind of customization.

Your suggestion to allow users to choose what gets exported could certainly streamline the experience for many. While this specific feature isn’t currently available, it’s a fantastic idea for future development. Engaging in discussions like these can help drive improvements, so keep sharing your valuable insights with the community!

You could try to merge them, by selecting control as one accessory. This is available with the G3 camera. That way the security system stays in the background

@P4ck0 Your suggestion of merging functionalities by selecting control as one accessory is quite interesting! With the Camera Hub G3, you can indeed manage various devices and features, which may help keep the security system less intrusive in your setup. The Camera Hub G3 supports a wide range of functionalities, including integration with HomeKit, which allows for a certain level of control and customization.

This approach might not completely hide the devices but could potentially help in managing them more efficiently within the Apple Home ecosystem. Keep experimenting with these setups, and don’t hesitate to share your findings with the community. Your practical insights can be incredibly valuable for others facing similar challenges!
