I’ve only recently tried new items to integrate to my smart home that were not directly compatible with HomeKit. Learning a bit about Home Assistant got me kicked off and eventually introduced to Aqara products. So far, I’ve only got the Aqara UWB Smart Lock U400 but have installed the video doorbell and thermostat for my sister and those work seamlessly for her setup.
I enjoy the expanded possibilities and learning that come with Home Assistant. I have always thought I didn’t need it because Apple just “works so well” but over the last few years that feeling has waned with updates and slow progress they’ve made to integrate beyond the current lineup.
I’m not claiming anything profound and certainly not an expert in this area, but I do have a growing appreciation for being open minded. Next, I plan to learn about the automation possibilities with the Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400.
