IFTTT Integration with Google Assistant for Smart Locks

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating my Yale smart lock with Google Assistant using IFTTT. I recently installed the Yale YDR 226 lock and was excited to set it up with Google Home. After some research, I found that IFTTT is the way to go for this integration.

At first, I was a bit confused because IFTTT didn’t recognize my lock under the available devices. I had set it up as a generic Z-Wave lock in Hubitat, but it still wasn’t showing up in IFTTT. I decided to try using a virtual switch in Hubitat, which acted as a intermediary between the lock and IFTTT. This worked like a charm!

Here’s how I did it: I created a virtual switch in Hubitat and linked it to my lock. Then, I set up an IFTTT applet that triggered the virtual switch when I gave a specific voice command to Google Assistant. This allowed me to lock and unlock my door hands-free.

I also found a helpful thread that explained how to configure virtual switches specifically for locks. It was a bit technical, but with some patience, I got it sorted out.

If anyone else is struggling with IFTTT recognizing their smart lock, I highly recommend trying the virtual switch method. It adds an extra step, but it makes the integration possible. Happy automating! :star2:
