Ok, My solution for a quicker setup is as follows:-

  1. Don’t put any batteries into the device not yet.
  2. Add matter device and scan the code.
  3. Allow Aqara to time out, this happens quite quickly (device is offline).
  4. Select the option to add via matter controller.
  5. Put batteries into the Ikea device.
  6. This now pairs within a few seconds.

I hope this help with others.
I can only confirm the “add via matter controller” with M3, I’m not sure about M100 or M200 devices.
