IKEA BILRESA - Dual Button - Will Not Pair with Aqara

Both the Google Home app and the “Add via Matter Controller” option in the Aqara app will likely go through Google Play Services with system privileges. The question is whether it will work in the Aqara app without exceeding the time limit, and what is preventing it from doing so.

For me its not app permissions as this is switched off in android i.e. Manage app is unused is switched off.

Hello David,
Thank you for the information , this is very helpful.
Based on what you described, this issue is very likely related to mDNS (local network discovery) . After the network credentials are sent to the Matter device, the phone needs to re-discover the device on the local network. If mDNS traffic is blocked or restricted, the process may remain stuck at this step.

On Pixel devices with Android 16, certain network protection features may interfere with this. Please try the following:

  1. Go to Settings → Network & Internet
Turn Data Saver off (if it is enabled)

  2. Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Private DNS
Set it to Off ( not a custom DNS)

3.Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Adaptive Connectivity
And it’s better to turn Adaptive Connectivity off as well, if necessary

And it’s better to turn Adaptive Connectivity off as well, if necessary ,

After changing these settings, please restart the Aqara Home app, or if needed, reboot your phone , then try the Matter pairing again.

It’s funny that it only effects the new IKEA thread devices.

It doesn’t change anything. I tried it now. My settings were like that anyway.

Edit: I can add all IKEA gear without any problem to the Tuya android app with their cheap Matter over thread hub.

Ok the plot thickens, I can no longer add a Aqara T2 GU10 bulb through matter / thread, same issue it times out.

My primary M3 hub does currently have a beta firmware on it for test a specific Aqara device I’m now wondering if this is the cause of my thread issues?

Here im pairing IKEA KLIPPBOK water leak sensor with android app, matter over thread: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hzbZ6MD0dU4KXVEO1f1OeP8yohicqOMj/view?usp=drivesdk
Its pairing without any problems.
Common things for IKEA buttons and IKEA bulbs, that they are still dual protocol, ziggbe and thread on board, could be it a reason for issues with aqara app?

Hi,
I have the same issue pairing my Aqara M100 with BILRESA dual button. I follow your screenshot guide, but at the screen saying ‘Device not found’ I don’t get a 'Add via Matter controller"-button, only a ‘Try again’-button.
I have the latest firmware on my devices and have had no issues adding other matter devices such as dimmer modules to the Aqara M100.
Is there an alternate way to ‘Add via Matter controller’?

I’m not 100% sure and Aqara support would need to confirm but I believe the M3 hub only allows adding directly to, I could very well be wrong but you really need to pass this by Aqara support to confirm.

it wont work with m100 hub, the only solution is to use iphone with the iOS app. I opened a ticket a long time ago, and this still hasn’t been fixed.

Hi @david, I have several Kajplats bulbs, an M3 and an iPhone. I had to go through the same process of waiting for the first time out and then selecting add through the M3 and all then worked. Annoying but it worked!

Yes I saw that, too bad I don’t have many friends with iphones :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Just today I went and bought Ikeas Myggbett (door sansor) and Myggspray (motion detector) and they both paired like a breeze on first attempt, which means my environemt (wifi config) for matter over thread is good to go, and that the issue seems to be isolated to the bilresa remote alone.

water leak sensor is pairing as well without problems :d

Yep, I am getting the exact same thing.
M100 works just fine with the Myggbett, Myggspray and Timmerflotte, but both the two button and scroll wheel Bilresa just refuse to pair.
I’ve tried all of the suggestions above but at present have two remotes I cannot do anything with. Glad I bought some more of the old Zigbee Rodret’s when they were being sold off.

I’m kind of hoping that someone at Aqara can get this sorted.

I confirm the same problem here with both types of IKEA BILRESA remote controls. AH app does not connect them. You need to use the workaround mentioned here and add them using the matter controller directly (M3 in my case). Other IKEA matter devices connect w/o a problem. So this definitely is an Aqara problem with those 2 devices.

 following this!

Is this fixed yet? Same issue here. Thank you

nope, still only possible with iphone

I also have an M3 hub and a bilresa remote and had exactly the same experience getting it to pair on my Pixel 9a. It works great now it’s done but had to wait for it to time out.

Also unless I am missing something it doesn’t register the scroll of the wheel just the different button options (still a great buy for £4 even if I’m not missing anything) has anyone used any of the door and window sensors as was going to give them a go when I can get my hands on a couple
