Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to seek advice on improving battery life in my Netatmo Smart Thermostat. I’ve been using this device for a while now, and while it’s been a reliable addition to my smart home setup, I’ve noticed that the battery life isn’t as long as I’d like, especially since I added some radiator valves to it.
Initially, without the valves, the batteries lasted over a year, which was fantastic. However, with each valve I added, the battery life seems to diminish, and now I’m having to change them every 2-3 months. This is a bit inconvenient, especially since the thermostat is at my second residence, and I don’t always have easy access to it.
I’ve tried a few things to address this issue. First, I made sure the firmware was up to date, thinking that might help optimize power usage. I also checked if there were any settings I could adjust to reduce power consumption, but nothing seemed to make a significant difference.
One thing I noticed is that the thermostat has two small pins inside it. I’m wondering if these could be used to connect an external power supply, which might help reduce the strain on the batteries. I’m not entirely sure how to go about this, though, and I don’t want to risk damaging the device.
If anyone has experience with similar issues or has successfully connected an external power supply to their Netatmo thermostat, I’d love to hear about your approach. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help, and I look forward to hearing from you!
