Improving Homey Bridge Functionality and User Experience

As a new user of the Homey Bridge, I was thrilled to finally find a device that promised to integrate all my smart devices into one seamless app. After a week of use, however, I’ve encountered a few areas where improvements could greatly enhance my experience.

Firstly, the lack of group functionality is a significant oversight. Grouping devices, especially lights, would streamline my daily routines and make controlling multiple devices much more efficient. I would love to see this feature added across all versions, not just the PRO.

Another area for improvement is the support for third-party apps from the community. Apps like weather services and HomeKit are invaluable, and it’s frustrating that they’re only available on the PRO version. I understand the desire to monetize premium features, but offering these apps at a reasonable subscription price, say $6-8 a month, would be a win-win for both users and developers.

The subscription model itself is another point of consideration. Being forced to pay extra just to add more than five devices feels unnecessary, especially since I’ve already invested in the bridge. Expanding the device limit without additional costs would make the product more accessible and user-friendly.

Additionally, the ability to hide devices without input options, such as wall switches, would declutter the device list, making navigation much smoother. Aesthetic improvements, like displaying the flow section as tiles and allowing background customization, would also elevate the user experience.

I’m confident that with these enhancements, the Homey Bridge could become an even more indispensable tool in my smart home setup. I’m eager to see how these suggestions can be incorporated to make the app even better!
