Improving Wyze Sensor Adhesive with a Simple Modification

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a quick tip that might help those of you dealing with the adhesive issues on Wyze magnetic contact sensors. I’ve been using these sensors for a while now, and while they’re great for monitoring doors and windows, the adhesive on the magnet part can sometimes be a bit unreliable, especially over time.

I recently had an idea to modify the sensor to make it more durable. I remembered having some old window contact magnets from a previous security system, so I decided to give them a try. Here’s what I did:

  1. Materials Needed: I used a small piece of PVC plastic, about 1/8” thick, and two No.4-40 flathead wood screws. I also grabbed some glue to secure everything in place.

  2. Modification Process: I cut the PVC plastic to fit the magnet, making sure it was slightly larger to accommodate the screws. Then, I drilled and countersunk two small holes at each end of the PVC piece. After that, I stripped off the adhesive from the Wyze magnet and glued it to the PVC plate. Finally, I attached the plate to the door frame using the screws.

  3. Results: This modification has been a lifesaver! The magnet stays securely in place without any risk of the adhesive failing. Plus, the PVC plate adds a bit of protection, making the sensor more durable overall.

I think this could be a great solution for anyone experiencing similar issues with their Wyze sensors. It’s a simple fix that makes a big difference in reliability. If you give it a try, let me know how it works for you!
