Installing a New Security System: Tips and Experiences

Installing a new security system can be both exciting and a bit overwhelming, especially when you’re looking to integrate multiple devices and ensure everything works seamlessly. I recently decided to set up my own system using 2gig with SuretyDIY monitoring, and I wanted to share my experiences and some questions I have along the way.

First, I’m curious about the app compatibility. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Telegard app, so I’m wondering if using the 2gig app would be a better choice for a smoother experience. Additionally, I’m trying to figure out how to monitor specific sensors without including smoke detectors in the main monitored list. If a smoke detector goes off, I assume it would trigger an alarm, but I want to ensure that this doesn’t interfere with my primary security monitoring setup.

Another question I have is about compatibility. Can the Ion wireless door plungers be used with the 2gig system? I also have a larger dog, and I’m concerned about motion sensors being too sensitive. Has anyone successfully set up motion sensors that can distinguish between a pet and an intruder?

I’m planning to purchase the panel and starter sensors from SuretyDIY, but I’m considering buying additional sensors from other sites. How difficult is it to integrate these into the system? I’m hoping for a user-friendly setup that doesn’t require extensive technical knowledge.

Overall, I’m really excited about this project and can’t wait to see how it all comes together. If anyone has tips or experiences to share, especially regarding app choices, sensor integration, and pet-friendly motion sensors, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s keep the discussion positive and informative as we all work towards creating safer homes.
