I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my Apricus heat pump water heater with Home Assistant using Tuya Local. For those who might be facing similar challenges, I hope this can serve as a helpful guide or at least provide some encouragement!
After some research, I discovered that the Apricus model I have is supported by Tuya Local. The process involved connecting the device to my Wi-Fi network using the SmartLife app and then extracting the necessary device credentials from the Tuya developer portal. Initially, I encountered an issue where the plugin was failing to refresh the device state, but I soon realized that the problem was related to the protocol version being used.
By switching from the default protocol (v3.3 or auto) to v3.4, everything started working smoothly. This small tweak made a huge difference, and now I can monitor and control my water heater directly within Home Assistant without needing to connect to my Tuya account. It’s been a game-changer for my smart home setup!
If anyone else is looking to integrate their Apricus heater, I’d recommend checking the protocol version first. Sometimes, the solution is simpler than it seems. Happy tinkering! ![]()
