Hey everyone, I wanted to share a fun project I recently worked on to integrate Aqara buttons with Home Assistant. I’ve been using Google Home with TP-Link Kasa switches and Govee lamps, but I wanted to add some smart buttons for easier control when guests are over.
I picked up the Aqara M3 hub along with some door sensors and mini switches. The goal was to create a simple setup where pressing the button once turns on/off light #1, double-tapping controls light #2, and a long press handles light #3. Initially, I was a bit stuck since the buttons weren’t showing up in Google Home, but after some research, I realized Home Assistant was the way to go.
Here’s what I did: I set up the Aqara hub and paired the buttons. Then, I configured Home Assistant to recognize the buttons and map their presses to different lights. It took a bit of tweaking with automations and input booleans, but it’s working like a charm now! If anyone has questions or wants to try something similar, I’d be happy to share my setup details.
It’s amazing how much more versatile my system feels with these custom automations. Thanks to the community for all the helpful guides! ![]()
