I’ve been working on integrating my existing Bticino gate control/intercom system with Homematic CCU3, and I wanted to share my journey and seek some community insights. The Bticino Serie 100 system combines video/audio intercom with gate control, and it’s currently set up between the gate and the main building using cable (up to 50 meters). However, I want to expand this system to include multiple buildings on my property without breaking the bank or compromising flexibility.
Current Setup and Goals
- Bticino System: The existing setup uses a built-in camera at the gate, which activates when the gatebell rings, sending video and audio to the indoor monitor. From there, I can control the gate opener.
- Expansion Goals: Integrate additional buildings into the system without relying on Bticino’s expensive and inflexible solutions. I’m looking for a wireless (RF) solution due to the distances involved (up to 100 meters).
- Gate Motor Control: The gate motor is managed by a FAAC model (FAAC spa Model 787730), which is currently linked to the Bticino system. I can control the gate via the Bticino indoor monitor or an 868 MHz wireless remote control.
Proposed Integration with Homematic
- Signal Detection: I plan to use a Homematic wireless signal sensor (HM-Sen-DB-PCB) connected to the Bticino indoor monitor to detect the gatebell signal. This sensor will then send the signal to the CCU3.
- Notification System: At each building, I’ll install a Homematic bell that rings when the gatebell is activated. The HM-OU-CFM-TW seems like a good fit, though it’s a bit pricey.
- Video Signal Handling: Ideally, I’d like to forward the video signal from the Bticino system via CCU3 to other buildings. This would require a Homematic video receiver, but I’m still researching this aspect.
- Gate Control: The simplest approach seems to be integrating a Homematic switch (hm-lc-sw1-Ba-PCB) with the FAAC controller. Stefan Kleen’s video on creating short pulses for motor control was particularly helpful here. I’m considering whether this switch or the HM 104895 wireless switch would be more suitable.
Community Feedback Needed
- Has anyone successfully integrated Bticino with Homematic? Any tips or pitfalls to avoid?
- For the video signal forwarding, are there specific Homematic devices that can handle this?
- Regarding the gate motor control, which Homematic switch would you recommend for reliability and ease of setup?
This project is a mix of excitement and challenges, and I’d love to hear from anyone who has tackled similar integrations. Let’s collaborate to make this smart home integration a success!
