Hi everyone, I’m thrilled to share my recent project integrating the DoorBird video intercom with my Homematic system. After struggling with the Ring Doorbell 2’s unreliable Wi-Fi connection, I decided to switch to the DoorBird V2101, which runs on PoE. This change has been a game-changer for my smart home setup!
Here’s a quick overview of my setup:
-
Hardware Used: DoorBird V2101, TP-Link PoE Switch, and Cat 8.1 cables.
-
Integration with Homematic: I’ve successfully linked the DoorBird with my Homematic system to achieve the following functionalities:
- When someone rings the doorbell, a custom MP3 tone plays.
- A photo of the visitor is automatically saved on the CCU.
- I can unlock the door remotely using the Homematic app.
Future Plans: With the arrival of our new baby, I’m planning to add time-based audio notifications and smart lighting to enhance the experience further.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has integrated DoorBird with Homematic and if there are any additional features or tips they’d recommend. The community support has been invaluable, and I’m excited to contribute my experience back!
Best regards,
Hendrik
