Integrating Fibaro HCL with Alarm System: My Experience

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating the Fibaro HCL system into my home alarm setup. After reading a lot of feedback on this forum, I decided to go with the Fibaro HCL despite some concerns I had heard. I wanted to create a system where the alarm could be temporarily deactivated for 30 seconds upon unlocking, and if that scene wasn’t triggered, the alarm would sound.

I started by setting up the Fibaro HCL with my existing alarm system. The initial installation was straightforward, but I ran into some issues when trying to configure the automation rules. I wanted the system to deactivate the alarm for exactly 30 seconds when the door was unlocked, and if the door wasn’t opened within that time, the alarm should trigger.

After some trial and error, I managed to set up the automation using the Fibaro HCL’s built-in rules engine. It took a bit of tweaking, but the system now works perfectly. The 30-second window is just enough to allow access without triggering the alarm, and the alarm reliably sounds if the door isn’t opened within that timeframe.

I also added some sensors for additional security, and the Fibaro HCL has made it easy to integrate them into the system. The ability to monitor and control everything through the mobile app has been a huge convenience.

For anyone considering the Fibaro HCL, my advice is to take the time to thoroughly test each component and rule during setup. It might seem a bit daunting at first, but with patience, you can create a robust and reliable system. I’m really happy with how everything turned out and would recommend the Fibaro HCL to others looking for a reliable home automation solution.
