Integrating Gira PIR Sensor with Homematic: A Smooth Experience

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating a Gira PIR sensor with my Homematic system. After some research and trial, I found a solution that works perfectly with my existing setup. Here’s how I did it:

First, I connected the Gira PIR sensor to my Homematic system using the RS485 LAN gateway. The key was ensuring the correct wiring and power supply. I used a 24V power supply, which provided enough power for the sensor and other components. The Homematic wired RS485 Schaltaktor 2-fach acted as the perfect intermediary, allowing seamless communication between the Gira sensor and my Homematic hub.

One challenge I faced was ensuring the sensor’s notifications were correctly recognized by Homematic. I had to adjust the notification settings within the Homematic interface to match the sensor’s output. After some tweaking, everything fell into place, and the sensor now reliably triggers my lights when motion is detected.

I also wanted to share a tip for anyone looking to integrate non-Homematic devices. Always check the voltage requirements and ensure your power supply can handle the load. In my case, the 1A Netzteil ABB TS24/8-12-24 was sufficient, but it’s worth verifying with your specific setup.

This integration has significantly improved my home’s automation, and I’m thrilled with the results. If anyone has questions or needs help with similar projects, feel free to reach out! Happy automating! :rocket:
