I recently embarked on an exciting project to create a smart garden using Govee LED lights, and I wanted to share my experience with the community. The goal was to automate lighting for my indoor plants, ensuring they receive the optimal amount of light throughout the day. ![]()

I started by researching the best Govee lights for plant growth and settled on the Govee H7100 series, which offers full spectrum lighting. Setting up the lights was straightforward using the Govee app, but integrating them into my Home Assistant setup required a bit of tweaking. I utilized MQTT to connect the lights to my HA instance, allowing me to control them through automations. ![]()
One challenge I faced was ensuring the lights operated on a consistent schedule. I created a custom automation that not only turns the lights on and off at specific times but also adjusts their brightness based on the time of year. This ensures my plants receive the right amount of light during different growth phases. ![]()
Another feature I implemented was linking the lights to my presence sensors. If I enter the room during the day, the lights dim to conserve energy, and if I stay in the room during the night, they adjust to a softer, warmer light. This integration has made my garden both energy-efficient and user-friendly. ![]()
I’d love to hear from others who have integrated Govee lights into their smart homes or gardens. What creative uses have you found for these versatile lights? Let’s share tips and tricks to help each other make the most of our smart setups! ![]()
