Integrating Govee Lights for a Unique Outdoor Display

Hi everyone, I’m thrilled to share my latest project with you all! Over the past few months, I’ve been working on a fun and creative way to use Govee lights to celebrate Christmas in July with fellow boat enthusiasts at Lake Merwin, Washington. It’s been an exciting journey, and I thought I’d document my progress here for anyone who might be interested in something similar.

I decided to use Govee Curtain lights and some outdoor neon rope lights for this project. The idea is to create a vibrant and festive display on the boat, with the lights mounted on a plastic mesh that can be easily rolled up or folded down. This setup will allow me to attach the lights to a sturdy but collapsible framework on the port, starboard, and aft cockpit sides of the boat. I’ve been inspired by some clever mounting ideas shared by other Govee users, and I’m planning to incorporate a few of those into my design.

One of the challenges I’m facing is figuring out how to sync the curtains if they end up on different sections of the boat. I’m not sure if they’ll need to be on separate networks or if there’s a way to keep them in sync despite being in different locations. I’ll have to experiment with different configurations and see what works best. In the meantime, I’ve been gathering materials, including two more sets of curtains, and I’m planning to spread the project over several months to make it manageable.

I’m also thinking about how to power the lights and ensure they stay secure during different weather conditions. Since the boat is on a lake, I need to make sure everything is waterproof and can handle some wind or rain. I’ll be using some durable mounting brackets and possibly adding a layer of protection to the lights themselves.

I’ll keep you all updated as I make progress. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but I’m really enjoying the process. If anyone has tips or suggestions, I’d love to hear them! Happy lighting!
