Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience integrating multiple smart home devices using Govee lights and Shelly switches. It’s been a journey of learning and tweaking, but the results have been fantastic!
The Setup:
I recently upgraded my outdoor lighting with Govee H6008AA bulbs, which offer excellent brightness and color temperature options. To control them, I decided to use Shelly Button 1 switches, which are perfect for outdoor use thanks to their weatherproof design. The goal was to create a seamless automation system where pressing a button would trigger specific lighting scenes.
The Challenge:
Initially, I faced some issues with the Shelly buttons not consistently triggering the scenes. After some research, I discovered that adjusting the button’s debounce settings in the Shelly app made a huge difference. This small tweak ensured that each press was registered accurately without any delays.
The Solution:
Using the Hubitat ecosystem, I created a flow where pressing the Shelly button sends a command to the Govee bulbs to switch to a pre-set scene. For example, a quick press turns on a warm, dimmed setting for evenings, while a long press switches to a brighter, cooler light for security purposes. This setup has completely transformed my outdoor lighting experience!
Tips for Others:
- Firmware Updates: Always ensure your devices are running the latest firmware. I updated both the Govee bulbs and Shelly switches, which resolved some minor bugs.
- Scene Customization: Don’t hesitate to experiment with different scenes. The Govee app allows for a wide range of adjustments, so take the time to find the perfect settings for your needs.
- Automation Logic: If you’re using a hub like Hubitat, consider creating simple if-then rules to streamline your automations. This approach keeps things easy to manage and scalable.
I’m thrilled with how this integration has worked out and would love to hear about others’ experiences with similar setups! ![]()
