Hi all, I wanted to share my experience integrating Homey with Google Home to create a seamless automation setup. While I primarily rely on Homey for my smart home routines, I occasionally use Google Home for specific voice commands. The key was figuring out how to trigger Homey flows through Google without sharing all my devices. Here’s how I did it:
-
Google Assistant Routines: I created a Routine in Google Home that sends a specific voice command to Homey. For example, saying “Hey Google, turn on the movie lights” triggers a pre-configured flow in Homey that dims the lights and turns on the projector.
-
Homey Automation: On the Homey side, I set up an automation that listens for the Google command and executes the desired actions. This way, Homey handles the heavy lifting while Google serves as the voice interface.
-
Privacy Considerations: I made sure to only share the necessary flows with Google and kept all other devices private. This setup keeps my smart home secure while still allowing for convenient voice control.
If you’re looking to combine the strengths of Homey and Google Home, I highly recommend this approach. It’s been a game-changer for my daily routines!
Have any of you tried something similar? I’d love to hear your experiences and tips!
