I wanted to share my recent experience integrating my Inovelli switches with Philips Hue, which has been a journey of learning and triumph. Let me walk you through my adventure.The Setup I’ve been using Philips Hue for years, with a whopping 64 devices! Recently, I decided to dive into the world of local hubs with Hubitat. The goal was to create a seamless integration between my Inovelli Red Series switches and my Hue lights, particularly for setting up Christmas scenes. The idea was simple: press a button, lights change, and the switch LED flashes green to indicate the change. Sounds straightforward, right? Well, it wasn’t without its hurdles.The Challenge Initially, everything worked as expected. Pressing the condition button on my outdoor Inovelli switch triggered the Christmas lights to illuminate in multi-colors. However, the pièce de résistance—having the LED on the switch flash green when the scene was active—eluded me. After countless attempts and configurations, I couldn’t get the notification to trigger alongside the scene change. Frustration set in, but I knew I wasn’t alone in this struggle.The Solution After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that the key was in the configuration of the notifications within Hubitat. By carefully mapping the notification settings to align with the scene triggers, I finally achieved the desired behavior. The LED now flashes green when the Christmas scene is active and reverts to pink when it’s off. It’s a small detail, but it makes a world of difference in user experience!Lessons Learned This experience taught me the importance of thorough configuration and the value of community support. Sometimes, a fresh pair of eyes or a different perspective can unlock solutions that seem elusive.
