Integrating iRobot Roomba 980 with openHAB for Enhanced Control

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating my iRobot Roomba 980 with openHAB. After some research, I stumbled upon an unofficial library and REST interface called dorita980, which seems to offer comprehensive control over the Roomba.

The integration process was quite smooth, and the use cases shown on the GitHub repository worked perfectly out of the box. One feature that really impressed me is the ability to generate a map of the Roomba’s activity, providing a clear visual of its cleaning path.

I’m now looking to take this integration further by setting up custom routines within openHAB. For instance, I’d love to automate the Roomba to start cleaning at specific times or in response to certain triggers, like motion detected in the living room.
