I’ve been on a journey to create a seamless smart home ecosystem, and I’m thrilled to share some of my experiences and tips with you! 
The Challenge:
Like many of you, I have devices from various brands—Philips Hue, Shelly, and even some older Zigbee sensors. The goal was to get them all working together without any hiccups. At first, it felt a bit overwhelming, but breaking it down made it manageable.
The Solution:
I started by ensuring all devices were on the same network. Using Homey as my hub, I utilized its bridge feature to connect Zigbee devices seamlessly. For the Shelly devices, their REST API integration was a lifesaver—allowing me to control them through simple HTTP commands. Pairing this with Philips Hue’s robust ecosystem made for a smooth experience.
A Little Trick:
One thing I discovered was the importance of firmware updates. Keeping everything up to date not only fixed bugs but also introduced new features I hadn’t even considered! A quick tip: schedule regular firmware checks to stay ahead of issues.
The Outcome:
Now, my home is a harmonious blend of devices working together. Whether it’s the Philips Hue lights dimming as I walk into the living room or the Shelly switches controlling my garage door, everything flows smoothly. It’s incredibly satisfying to see all these different brands coexisting so well!
