I’ve been on a journey to integrate various smart home devices into my HomeKit setup, and I must say, it’s been quite an adventure! One of the challenges I faced was with my Spa pool. Initially, everything worked seamlessly within Home Assistant, but when I exposed the same switches to HomeKit, I was surprised to find multiple switches for the same button. It was a bit confusing at first, but I soon realized the issue stemmed from how the pumps were categorized as fans in Home Assistant.
After some research and experimentation, I figured out a way to create a single toggle button in Home Assistant that mimics the state of the fan entity, effectively solving the issue of multiple switches in HomeKit. This experience taught me the importance of understanding how different platforms categorize devices and how to work around such limitations.
