I wanted to share my recent experience integrating a new Aqara contact sensor into my smart home setup. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m thrilled with how it’s enhancing my home security. I modified it to work with an external contact input, which I detailed in my previous post. The process involved some soldering and careful consideration of the circuitry, but it’s been worth it for the added functionality!
However, I ran into a bit of a snag with my thermostat recently. It seems to be stuck in the ‘ON’ position, even after replacing the batteries. I’ve tried tapping it and checking the connections, but no luck so far. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? I’m considering reaching out to the manufacturer for a replacement, but I wanted to see if there’s a fix I might have missed.
On a lighter note, I stumbled upon a fantastic feature in my Home Assistant setup—custom scenes. I created a scene that dims the lights and sets the perfect temperature for movie nights. It’s been a game-changer for entertaining guests and relaxing at home!
