Integrating Old Security Sensors and Smart Home Monitoring Tips

Hi everyone, I’m excited to share some of my recent smart home projects and experiences! :star2:

I recently came across some old security sensors from a 2012 Securitas Direct system, and I’m curious if they can be integrated into my SmartThings setup. They include motion detectors and cameras, which I imagine could add a retro yet functional touch to my smart home. Has anyone successfully integrated similar legacy devices? Any tips or resources would be greatly appreciated! :eyes:

Another project I’ve been working on is setting up a Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant to control my garage door. I tried using MYQ initially, but it wasn’t reliable enough for my needs. So, I decided to go with a 5V relay board instead. I’m now looking for examples or guides on how to configure this setup properly. If anyone has experience with ESPHome or similar tools, I’d love to hear about your setups and any troubleshooting tips you might have! :bulb:

Lastly, I’m exploring ways to monitor my gas stove more effectively. I’ve found some interesting ideas, like using contact sensors to detect if the knobs are turned, but I’m not sure how feasible or reliable this approach is. Are there any smarter solutions or devices I should consider? I’m also curious if anyone has successfully integrated gas detection into their smart home setup. :stop_sign::fire:

If you have any advice, tips, or success stories on these topics, I’d be thrilled to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other out. Happy smart home tinkering! :rocket::sparkles:
