I recently decided to expand my smart home setup by integrating the Ring Keypad (V1) into my Homey ecosystem, despite the lack of native support. After some research, I discovered that it’s a Z-Wave device and can be integrated with some effort. I’m currently developing an app for it, and the progress has been encouraging. However, I’m curious about the interest in supporting other Ring Security System devices, such as motion sensors and door/window sensors. If there’s enough demand, I might look into integrating those as well.
Another project I’m working on involves optimizing my Zigbee network. I recently switched to channel 25 to better coexist with my Wi-Fi network in Germany. However, I’m encountering some issues with the channel settings not being applied correctly. I’ve followed the documentation and restarted Zigbee2MQTT, but the logs still show channel 11 being used. I’m wondering if there’s something I’m missing in the configuration process.
On a lighter note, I’m also exploring ways to enhance my daily routines with my smart devices. For instance, I’ve set up a simple motion-activated lighting system using Aeon devices, but I’ve noticed some inconsistencies in how it operates. Sometimes the lights turn on when there’s motion, but other times they don’t. I’m curious if others have encountered similar issues and how they’ve resolved them.
Overall, it’s been a rewarding journey experimenting with different devices and configurations. I’m excited to see how these projects unfold and how I can further enhance my smart home setup. If anyone has insights or suggestions, I’d love to hear them!
