Integrating Shelly 2.5 PM for 3-Way Switch Setup: A Learning Journey

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation recently, and I must say, it’s been an exciting yet challenging journey. One of my latest projects involves setting up a 3-way switch for the staircase lighting using the Shelly 2.5 PM. The goal was to control the light from both the bottom and top of the stairs, but I hit a snag along the way.

Initially, I wired one of the switched wires to pass line voltage from the bottom of the stairs and used the second wire as a constant line voltage to the top. I connected each switch to its own input on the Shelly 2.5 PM and hooked up the light to output one. However, I couldn’t find a setting that allowed both switches to control the same output. This was a bit frustrating, as I was really looking forward to seamless control from both ends of the staircase.

After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that while the Shelly 2.5 PM is incredibly versatile, it might not natively support controlling a single output with two switches in a 3-way setup. I’m now exploring alternative configurations or firmware updates that could enable this functionality. If anyone has successfully achieved this setup or has insights, I’d love to hear your experiences!

This challenge has taught me the importance of thorough research and community support in smart home projects. It’s also reminded me that sometimes, the journey is as rewarding as the destination, even with a few bumps along the way. I’m hopeful that with some tweaking and the help of others, I’ll get this setup working perfectly!
