Integrating Shelly and OpenHAB: My Success Story

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share my recent experience integrating Shelly devices with OpenHAB3. It’s been a journey, but I’m thrilled with the outcome!

I’ve always been a fan of Shelly’s sleek design and versatility, but getting them to work seamlessly with my existing OpenHAB setup was quite the challenge. Initially, I struggled with the devices not appearing in the Shelly app, despite being recognized on my FritzBox. After some research, I realized assigning static IPs to each Shelly device was the key.

I also encountered an issue with the backup system on my Fritz!Box NAS, where backups were incomplete. After some troubleshooting, I discovered it was a permissions issue with the file system. I manually adjusted the settings and now my backups complete successfully.

One of the highlights was setting up my Shelly Dimmer. It took some time to configure the wall switches, especially with the long wires causing interference. I ended up adding a small filter, and now it works like a charm! The dimmer now smoothly controls my LED spots, and the integration with OpenHAB’s scenes has transformed my lighting setup.

I’d like to share a tip for anyone facing similar issues: always check your network settings and consider static IPs for consistent performance.

To anyone exploring Shelly or OpenHAB, don’t get discouraged by initial hurdles. The community support and resources are incredible, and the payoff is well worth the effort.

Thanks to everyone for their contributions and insights! Happy integrating! :star2:
