Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been both exciting and a bit challenging. I recently purchased several Shelly devices with the goal of integrating them seamlessly across different rooms in my home. However, I’ve encountered a few hurdles along the way that I’d like to share and hopefully get some advice on.
Initially, I set out to install around 40 Shelly units, which will eventually be connected to my home network via Wi-Fi. The challenge I’m facing is how to correctly assign each Shelly device to its respective room within the app. With so many devices, it’s crucial to keep track of their locations and functionalities. I’ve read through some guides and forums, but I’m still not entirely sure how to efficiently organize them without confusion.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the app doesn’t automatically detect the room based on the device’s physical location, which means I have to manually assign each one. This process is time-consuming, especially with such a large number of devices. I’m wondering if there’s a smarter way to streamline this setup or if there’s a feature I might have overlooked that could simplify the process.
Additionally, I’ve come across some interesting discussions about using MQTT to log device states and create an audit trail. While I’m not entirely familiar with MQTT, it seems like a powerful tool for tracking device activity. I’m curious if anyone has experience setting this up and if it’s something I could implement to monitor my Shelly devices more effectively.
On a lighter note, I’ve also been exploring the creative side of smart home automation. I recently stumbled upon some inspiring projects on YouTube where users have integrated their lighting systems with music and scenes, creating a truly immersive experience. It’s been motivating me to think outside the box and experiment with different configurations in my own setup.
Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of building my smart home, even with the occasional bumps in the road.
