Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience integrating Shelly devices into my Apple HomeKit setup. For those who aren’t familiar, Shelly devices are fantastic for adding smart functionality to traditional home wiring without the need for neutral wires. I’ve been using them to control my lights and outlets, and it’s been a game-changer!
I’ve set up my Shelly 1 and Shelly Dimmer 2 devices to work seamlessly with Apple HomeKit through HomeBridge. The process was straightforward, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My family loves being able to control the lights with voice commands, and it’s been a great way to make our home smarter without any major rewiring.
One challenge I encountered was setting up a few devices to work with my existing wall switches. I wanted the convenience of touch controls alongside the smart features. After some research, I found a neat workaround by using a Shelly 1 as a quasi-input for the wall switches. This allowed me to group the lamps and switches together, creating a smooth experience where both the wall switch and voice commands work perfectly.
