Integrating Shelly Devices with Home Energy Management

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Shelly devices with my home energy management system, and I wanted to share my experiences and some tips I’ve picked up along the way. This might be helpful for others looking to streamline their smart home setup!

Initially, I was using my Shellys to control my heating and hot water pumps based on the temperature in my buffer tank, powered by my PV system. It worked well, but I wanted to take it a step further by setting up push notifications to track the system’s performance. However, I ran into some issues with creating new push notifications. The interface had changed, and I couldn’t figure out how to set up a new notification without triggering multiple alerts, which was pretty annoying!

After some digging through the forums and trial and error, I realized that the key was to adjust the notification settings to limit the number of alerts. I also discovered that using the right combination of conditions and triggers made the system much more reliable. For example, setting up a scene based on device activity and ensuring that the notification only fires once per event helped eliminate the flood of messages.

One thing I learned is the importance of checking the firmware on your devices. Updating my Shelly devices to the latest version not only fixed some bugs but also introduced new features that made integration smoother. I also found that using the right automation tools, like Node-RED, opened up a whole new level of customization and control over my energy management system.

If you’re looking to integrate multiple devices or set up complex automations, I’d recommend starting with simple scenes and gradually building up. Testing each part of your setup individually before combining them can save a lot of frustration down the line. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for advice—there are some really helpful people out there who are more than willing to share their knowledge!

In the end, this project has been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to see how I can expand it further. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to enhance your current setup, there’s always something new to discover in the world of smart home technology. Happy tinkering! :rocket:
