Integrating Smart Lighting and Devices: Challenges and Solutions

I’m really excited about diving into the world of smart home automation! I’ve been experimenting with integrating various devices into my setup, and while most things have worked smoothly, there are a few hiccups I’m trying to iron out. Let me share my experiences and see if anyone has some insights or solutions.

First off, I’ve got a mix of Fibaro dimmers and Shelly devices controlling my lighting and other smart gadgets. The idea is to create seamless automation where flipping a physical switch or adjusting the dimmer triggers specific scenes or routines. For example, turning on a Fibaro dimmer should automatically switch on certain lights and maybe even adjust the thermostat. It works perfectly when I control everything through the app, but the magic doesn’t happen when I use the physical switch. Oddly enough, I found a workaround using WebCoRE, but now that it’s being phased out, I’m eager to find a more permanent solution within the native system.

Another challenge I’m facing is with my Shelly devices. They’ve been rock solid in the past, but after an OpenHAB upgrade, there’s a noticeable delay when I manually toggle the switches. It can take anywhere from a few seconds to half a minute for the system to register the change. I’ve tried tweaking some settings, like disabling the ECO mode, but it hasn’t made a difference. I’m curious if others have experienced this and how they’ve resolved it.

On the topic of Zigbee devices, I recently added an IKEA air quality sensor, and while it’s great to have temperature and humidity readings, I’m disappointed that the PM2.5 and TVOC channels aren’t showing up. I’ve checked the firmware and binding configurations, but nothing seems to be working. Is this a known issue, or am I missing something in the setup?

Despite these challenges, I’m really impressed with how much I’ve been able to automate my home. The satisfaction of watching everything work together seamlessly is incredible. I’m hopeful that with some troubleshooting and maybe a few adjustments, I can get everything running smoothly. If anyone has tips or solutions for these issues, I’d be thrilled to hear them!

Cheers to the smart home journey! :rocket:
