Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of Hubitat after some experience with SmartThings, and I’m excited to share my journey so far. I’ve been working on setting up some cool automations, but I have a few questions that I hope the community can help with.
First, I’m using an Inovelli Red switch with a Sengled color-changing bulb. I’d love to program it so that tapping the switch twice makes the bulb red, and three taps make it blue. Is there a Hubitat-native way to achieve this? I’m curious about the best practices for customizing these interactions.
Second, I have an outdoor flood light with a unique feature—it can disable its motion sensor temporarily by turning off for 3 seconds and then back on. I want to control this from my Inovelli Red switch. Is there a way to program this sequence into a one-touch operation? Also, what if I always want the motion sensor disabled? Can I set up a routine that handles this automatically?
Lastly, I’m trying to set up a dimming rule for a light that only triggers if the light is already on. Specifically, I want the light to dim at 10:12pm if it’s on, and turn off at 10:15pm. I’m not sure if Simple Automation Rules can handle the “only if on” logic, or if I need something more advanced.
On a lighter note, I’ve been experimenting with automations that make my home feel smarter and more connected. For instance, I set up my bathroom lights to dim gradually in the morning, helping me ease into the day without the harsh glare of full brightness. It’s a small touch, but it makes a big difference!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these questions and any tips you have for optimizing these automations. Happy automating everyone!
