Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share my experience with integrating Z-Wave Plus devices into my smart home setup. I’ve been using Z-Wave for a while now, and recently I decided to upgrade my GE in-wall switch to a Z-Wave Plus version. The goal was to see if this upgrade would improve the responsiveness of my smart lighting system, especially when paired with my Leviton Z-Wave Plus plug-in dimmer.
I’ve always loved the convenience of controlling my lights through my SmartThings hub, but I noticed that there was a slight delay when turning devices on or off. After doing some research, I came across the concept of Smart Lighting Associations (SLAs) and thought it might be the key to reducing that delay.
To test this out, I upgraded my GE switch to a Z-Wave Plus model and set up an SLA between the switch and the Leviton dimmer. The results were pretty impressive! The lights now respond much faster than before, and the delay is almost imperceptible. I was also curious if this improvement would be consistent across different scenarios, so I tested it with various commands and automations. Everything worked smoothly, which made me really happy with the upgrade.
I’d love to hear from others who have experience with Z-Wave Plus devices and SLAs. Have you noticed similar improvements in responsiveness? What other tips or tricks do you have for optimizing Z-Wave networks? I’m always looking for ways to refine my setup and make it even more seamless.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps someone else looking to enhance their smart lighting experience!
